Shrimp Fried Rice

Introduction

Shrimp Fried Rice is a staple in our house. We fix this at least once every two weeks. The kids will love the meal and it is simple to make. I use Jasmine Rice in my fried rice simply because of the taste preference but you can use any kind of long grain rice that you have in your pantry, You can also substitute the shrimp with cut up chicken or steak or add an egg or two to the recipe.

How to make

Cook the Rice in a rice maker or according to the directions on the package. Put the oil into the wok or large pan to heat up on medium heat. Add the onion and garlic and stir for a minute or so until garlic is browned and the onion is opaque. Add the shrimp to cook and remove from pan. Put the cooked rice in the pan and stir until lightly coated with oil. Add the mixed vegetables and continue stirring. Add the soy sauce to the rice and stir until evenly coated with the sauce. Same with the Sesame oil if you choose to add that to the recipe. Add the Shrimp back into the rice and stir and mix until the rice is fried. Add Salt and Pepper to taste and Serve.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of Jasmine Rice

  • 10-12 Shrimp

  • 1 minced garlic clove

  • 1 medium onion cut into small pieces

  • 1 frozen back of mixed vegetables

  • 2 tbsp of oil

  • 4 tbsp of soy sauce

  • 2 tbsp of Sesame Oil (optional)

  • 1 egg scrambled (optional)

  • Salt and Pepper to taste
